10×21 Cycling 4 Chemo Chair
Cyndy McLean has a fundraiser underway called 10×21: Cycling 4 Chemo Chairs. The goal of this initiative is to raise funds to support the purchase of new chemo chairs for Grand River Regional Cancer Centre (GRRCC). GRRCC is the primary site for the Waterloo/Wellington Cancer Program.
Between September 9-30, Cindy will complete 10 rides of 21km each, representing the 10 months and 21 chemo treatments I received at GRRCC. Cindy has already cycled in the communities of Guelph, Cambridge and Elmira. Still to come are rides in North Perth, Kitchener, Fergus, Waterloo, Elora and Millbank/Linwood. Cindy is doing all the rides using a handcycle (a uniquely designed trike that is propelled with my arms) as I am paralyzed from a fall in 2003. I am attaching a poster for the initiative.
“I thought you might be interested in particular in my Fergus ride on Sept 22 (12pm) and Elora ride on Sept 26 (12pm) as both of them will include portions of the Elora Cataract Trailway.”
